Because it is DA, tons of great works are sinking in oceans of shit, and in general people around here love shit more than decent work. Conclusion based on years of observations. It was better few years ago but now ... this place is not dead, it's just smells bad.

well to be honest... i can understand why the great works fall in with everything else....
if the great works were the first thing deviantart showed people then artists like me would nearly not be seen at all... then the few popular people who were there from the start would catch all the views and fame... and people who came later wouldent have the slightest chance of being seen.. .at least not compared to the ones that are already popular..... its sad that it works like this... but its a way to make sure everyone is seen... then of course there are the guys who just take a picture of their own dick and put a couple of yellow stars over it and then upload that twenty times... i have no respect for the onse who does that.. even though they don't get sucsess they're still stealing spotlight from those who put time into something thats acctually good!

Usually those people who grabbed all attention also worked REALLY hard on their pieces so all attention was well deserved. 3 weeks working 8 hours/day on one pic is hardly unfair to be seen by many. But now is it almost like it doesn't matter how hard you worked and how good your are, it is 70% luck I guess to be seen.

i did not say that the people who grapped the attention were undeserving..... but lors of artists who work as long or even longer who just came later have only a very small chance of being seen compared to those who came first.... this system is intended to make yourchance of being seen equal to all... sadly though it ended being more of a luck ting.. just as you said...
